What does the application ask for?
Real's Texas guide lists what its join application needs: your license numbers and expiration dates, your MLS and board, your sponsor's name and email if you are naming one, a photo of the front of your driver's license, and payment details for the application fee. A team that advertises as a team also fills in Real's team setup form.
How does a Texas license move to Real?
Through the Texas Real Estate Commission's REALM Portal. If you have no account yet, the guide says to create one first, from the activation email the commission sent. Then you request the change: under My Records, choose Amendment beside your license number, pick Information Change, choose Change or Request Sponsorship, and look up Real Broker, LLC by its business broker license, 9003138, if you are joining as a residential agent. After you certify the request you see a confirmation screen with a record number.
Real's Texas broker then receives the request and can accept it. Real asks you to send the request to the correct office on the commission's system, since a request sent to the wrong one delays onboarding. A broker licensed in Texas can request sponsorship through the portal as a broker associate.
What does Texas advertising ask of you at Real?
Real's approved brokerage name in Texas is Real, Real Broker or Real Broker, LLC, and the guide says it has to be at least 50% the size of the largest contact information on the sign or advertisement, which is usually your name or your team's.
A team or group name has to end in Team or Group, be available with the Texas Real Estate Commission, and be approved by Real's managing broker in Texas. Real's guide notes that registering your team name with Real is a separate process from registering it with the commission.
What about your listings, board and MLS?
If you re-list an active listing with Real, the forms go to Real's Texas broker team for signature on an electronic signing platform. Whether your old brokerage releases the listing in the first place is up to your agreement with it.
You have 30 days from signing Real's Independent Contractor Agreement (ICA) to affiliate with a board and an MLS, which you arrange directly with them, and Real does not cover that cost.
