What the RE/MAX Close Did to Real Agents' Stock: The 10-for-1 Consolidation and the New Units
Updated
Bottom line: On 24 August 2026 every 10 Real shares became one, and agents' Real restricted share units were divided by 10. Both were then exchanged one for one for Real REMAX Group shares and units, and the units kept their vesting terms.

What happened to Real's shares on 24 August 2026?
They were consolidated and then exchanged. Real's securityholders approved a 10-for-1 share consolidation as part of the RE/MAX combination at their meeting of 14 August 2026, and it was the first step of the closing on 24 August: every 10 Real common shares became one. Each consolidated share then became one share of Real REMAX Group Inc., the combined company.
A fraction of a share was rounded. Real's release of 20 August 2026 says a fraction of less than half a share was cancelled without payment, and a fraction of half or more became one whole share. Real's shares stopped trading on Nasdaq at the close on 24 August, and Real REMAX Group's began trading there the next day under the same symbol, REAX.
What happened to agents' restricted share units?
They went through the same two steps. Real REMAX Group's report of the closing to the SEC says the number of Real restricted share units each holder had, and the number of shares each would settle in, was divided by 10 and rounded down, though never below one. Each unit was then exchanged for a Real REMAX Group unit for the same number of shares.
Their terms carried over. The same report says each new unit is subject to the terms of the Real equity plan it came from, with the same conditions for vesting and the same term to expiry, so a unit from the stock purchase plan or a stock award vests on the schedule it had before.
Has Real said what the consolidation means for its stock programs?
Not in its help center. A search there for the consolidation found no article on 2 October 2026, and Real's article on earning stock, edited on 31 August 2026, describes the plan and the awards with no mention of the consolidation.
One rule there bears on any agent holding unvested stock. Real's article on leaving before shares vest says shares bought through the stock purchase plan stay with an agent who leaves, while bonus shares and the awards for capping, Elite status and attracting agents are forfeited if the agent leaves before they vest.

Questions & answers
What do agents in the US and Canada ask about this?
Did the RE/MAX deal change the Real stock I hold?
Its count and its name. On 24 August 2026 every 10 Real shares became one, and each consolidated share was exchanged for one Real REMAX Group Inc. share, trading on Nasdaq as REAX from 25 August. Restricted share units were divided by 10 and exchanged the same way, keeping their vesting terms, according to Real REMAX Group's report of the closing to the SEC.
Real's help center still describes its stock programs in Real's own name and has no article on the consolidation. Every dated change to Real's fees, stock and filings since January 2026 is on the page listing Real's policy changes by date.
Do my unvested Real stock units still vest after the RE/MAX deal?
Yes, on their old terms. Real REMAX Group's report of the closing says each Real restricted share unit was exchanged for a Real REMAX Group unit under the same equity plan terms, with the same vesting conditions, after the 10-for-1 consolidation divided the number of units by 10. Real's article on leaving before shares vest was last edited in February 2026, before the closing.
Real's awards for capping and Elite status vest over three years, and stock purchase plan shares over one. What Real gives agents in stock, and how, is set out on the page about the money at Real.
What happened to a fraction of a Real share in the consolidation?
It was rounded. Real's release of 20 August 2026 says a fraction of less than half a Real share was cancelled without payment and a fraction of half or more became one whole share. The number of Real options and restricted share units each holder had was divided by 10 and rounded down, to no fewer than one.
Each consolidated Real share then became one Real REMAX Group share. Every dated step of the combination is on the page listing Real's policy changes by date.
