Elite Agent Status at Real: How to Qualify and What It Changes, in the US and Canada
Updated
Bottom line: An agent on Real's full cap reaches Elite by paying $6,000 in post-cap fees in the US, or $9,000 in Canadian dollars, or by $500,000 in GCI and 10 deals of $1 million or more. The post-cap fee then drops to $100, or $150 in Canada.

Who can reach Elite status?
Individual agents and team leaders on a full cap, in Real's words. That is the $12,000 cap in the US or the $15,000 cap in Canadian dollars. A team member who pays the full cap can reach Elite personally, and one on a reduced cap cannot.
A domestic team shares one cap, so Real issues its award to the team leader, to be split across the team. Real reviews the program every year and says it is subject to change.
What are the two routes?
Either one qualifies, and every requirement of the route has to be met within a single anniversary year. The table sets out both as Real's help center gives them.
| Route | United States | Canada |
|---|---|---|
| The cap, then post-cap fees | Pay the full annual cap, then $6,000 in post-cap transaction fees | Pay the full annual cap, then $9,000 in Canadian dollars in post-cap transaction fees |
| Production | At least $500,000 in GCI and 10 completed transactions of $1 million or more | Real gives the same $500,000 and $1 million figures, with no separate Canadian amount |
What counts toward the production route?
A transaction over $1 million counts only if you received at least 50% of its gross commission. Rebates you pay clients come off your Elite GCI, and personal transactions do not count toward Elite at all.
What changes once you reach Elite?
Your post-cap fee drops. Real's US fee schedule puts the Elite fee at $100 on transactions created on or after 1 September 2026, and Canada's schedule puts it at $150 in Canadian dollars. The lower fee appears on all of your transactions as soon as you reach Elite, and a deal already in progress is adjusted when Real closes the file.
Real also awards stock: $12,000 in the US or $15,000 in Canadian dollars, which Real converts to US dollars before the purchase. The shares are restricted stock units that vest over three years, you have to stay in good standing with Real throughout, and an agent who leaves before they vest forfeits them.
Elite status also opens revenue share up to Tier 5 from the next day, until your cap resets.
What happens to the rest of a team?
It depends on each member's cap. Once a team leader reaches Elite, every capped member on a reduced cap pays the lower post-cap fee too. A member on the full cap keeps paying the full post-cap fee, which Real says is so that the member can still reach Elite status personally.
What is the Elite Cultural Award?
A second stock award, of up to $8,000, for an Elite agent who then makes a qualifying cultural contribution. Real names three ways to qualify: hosting community building events, teaching in Real Academy, or serving as a designated division leader. An event has to be approved by Real's leadership before it takes place and be open to all agents.
The Cultural Award vests over three years, like the production award.
Questions & answers
What else do agents in the US and Canada ask?
What is Real's Elite Agent program?
Elite is a status Real gives an individual agent or team leader on the full cap who either pays $6,000 in post-cap fees in the US, or $9,000 in Canadian dollars, or reaches $500,000 in GCI with 10 deals of $1 million or more, all in one anniversary year. The post-cap fee then falls to $100 in the US, or $150 in Canadian dollars, and Real awards stock.
The stock award is $12,000 in the US or $15,000 in Canadian dollars, in restricted stock units that vest over three years. The US fee of $100 applies to transactions created on or after 1 September 2026, under Real's fee schedule of August 2026. Real reviews the program every year and says it is subject to change. How the cap and the post-cap fee work before Elite is on the page about what Real takes from each commission before and after the cap.
How do I reach Elite status at Real in Canada?
The same two ways as in the US, with Canadian figures where Real gives them. Pay the full cap of $15,000 in Canadian dollars and then $9,000 in post-cap fees, or reach $500,000 in GCI with 10 completed transactions of $1 million or more, a route Real's article gives no separate Canadian amount for. Either has to be met within one anniversary year.
Real's Canadian fee schedule of August 2026 then puts the Elite post-cap fee at $150, and Real awards $15,000 in Canadian dollars in stock, converted to US dollars before the purchase and vesting over three years.
What happens to my Elite stock award if I leave Real?
If it has not vested, you lose it. The Elite production award and the Elite Cultural Award are restricted stock units with a three-year vesting period, and Real's help center says an agent who leaves before that period ends forfeits the shares, which go back to the company. You also have to stay in good standing with Real while they vest.
Stock you buy yourself through the stock purchase plan is different: it has a one-year vesting period, and Real says those shares stay with you if you leave, to be traded once the year is up.
